Jasper Morrison.

This guy is just amazing! Upon researching this designer for our recent assessment; I found that Morrison's work stood out to me for the child-like drawings that accompanied some of his designs. His sketches are crudely rendered but also very innocent and yet very deliberate. Searching through some of the work he is known for I found that this innocence carries into the design. His work is clean and very simplistic; and there is a clear method to this philosophy of design- to effectively strip objects of all design until the only form remaining is the purpose of the object itself.

Poster Mashup!

I've actually altered the final product of my design since submitting it on Tuesday. I feel this version is much more effective in telling the narrative I chose for it.

Geometric Constructions

Todays exercises in Communications A, were based around the different kinds of geometry that have applications in design- 2D geometrical constructions.
After being assisted in constructing a series of 2D, regular polygons. Our next task was to form groups in order to assemble an Archimedian solid.
This is our attempt at a  Icosidodecahedron... I think we did well for a first attempt.

...

Astileishing.

eating with art.

A company named the Ribbon Project, has produced this amazing stainless-steel cutlery set by Makoto Yamaguchi. The pieces are meant to relfect ribbon as it is held between the fingers. It doesn't look as if it would be too easy to eat with these. But they are just so beautiful- so in this case I'm all for physicality over functionality.

Spin Wash

This  is an incredibly unique luxury bath concept, which turns the traditional bath on its head, literally. Aside from its obvious aesthetic appeal - it's like a giant art installation for your bathroom - its also multi-purpose, transforming from bath to shower as the whole unit revolves.  Designer Ron Arad  has teamed with Italian bathroom design brand Teuco to bring the concept to life.
